2011 was a mixed year for me, joy at finishing the LPC with a distinction, passing my driving test, getting a car, growing spiritually and knowing more about myself but disappointment and frustration at not getting a training contract or a job. But the positives far out weigh that one negative. One thing I can say is I tried and I continued to try but 2012 is a new year. 2012 is going to be a big year for me; I’m making a big change which is also a risk but it’s a change that could change my life forever. I’m not where I want to be but in 2012 I’ll give my all and with the help of God, I’ll be closer to where I want to be.

Whatever point you are in your life, whether you’re where you want to be or not, give 2012 everything. Don’t hold back and wait for tomorrow, the time to make the move is now. The years are coming and going faster and faster, my prayer is that we don’t run out of time but each person fulfils whatever dream they have.

2012- chase your dream; make every moment count!

The dreaded school reunion

You know the dreaded feeling you have when you haven’t seen school friends in years, you have not kept in touch and you’re invited to a reunion you just cannot get out of, well that was me last night. The group of girls I was friends with at college met up for dinner and I could not get out of this one. It’s been 4 years since I’ve seen most of them and I didn’t know what to expect.

Well, the scene was set, I wore my new blazer for dutch courage and a glass of Prosecco for added measure. The location was a dainty dim sum restaurant in West London. The night started well enough, the usual pleasantries and the what have you been up tos. But as the night went on it became more relaxed and more enjoyable for everyone. My dread turned into enjoyment. At the end of the night I left feeling like maybe I shouldn’t have avoided the previous reunions.  I’m actually looking forward to the next one now!

I was going to upload a picture of my outfit on the night but my camera decided to break down on me. Fingers crossed it behaves again.

Unwinding at Christmas time

The other day I went to the Spa (La Serena Spa at the Reefs). It was divine!!!

Christmas is an interesting time of the year, it is filled with joy and the 3Fs (food, family & friends). However, because of all of the entertaining and present buying it can be quite stressful. This year I decided to treat myself to rest and relaxation in time for the holidays. I had never been to the Spa at this time of the year but as the theme was rest and relaxation I decided to go. It was one of my best decisions of 2012! I went with my older sister and we both had relaxation massages. The service was warm and friendly, the facility was gorgeous and the massage was top notch. I am definitely going to make this a Christmas tradition and would suggest that you find a spa and do the same.

Bar at The Gilbert Scott

To celebrate Christmas I went for drinks this week with the ladies I volunteer with at Dress for Success. We were at the Gilbert Scott bar, King’s Cross. On walking into the bar the interior space is stunning; opulent in red and gold with brass details. The bar men were pleasing to the eye and their old school dress was in keeping with the theme of the whole bar.

The drinks are a little pricey but on the whole worth it, there is a nice ambience and  comfortable seating areas. So I would definitely recommend a stop in when you’re in the area. I had the cocktail, very special lady, (of course) lol and it was v nice. The champagne was also served in tall elegant flutes. They also served complimentary popcorn which was an unusual flavour- not your standard sweet or salt.

All round a lovely evening; good surroundings, good drinks, great people.

MayK quick tip- order the chips as a side. They are just perfect- crispy on the outside and fluffy inside.

Shaunee I’m thinking- stop by the Gilbert Scott for cocktails and champagne then hop on the eurostar to Paris :))
